Controlled Blast

Controlled release of an avalanche with explosives.

This is a mining operation at Stjernøy, northern Norway. They do this once in a while when too much snow gathers on the mountain side.

Head of operations says this was a perfect deployment. The buildings at the bottom sustained minor damage to vents and AC, though three hours later everything was operational again.

Detonation at about the :26 mark, with excitement starting at about :45.
